PANI PURI- The pride of Mumbai

Well... Long time..no blogs... I am this weird creature who doesnt write blogs when free and writes one when busy with exams... lol... Basically I was out of topics... But just yeasterday a very special friend of mine said, "Even your craziest topics turns out to be a very creative blog"...( If he says so..) So here I go with another crazy topic... PANI PURI....

For those who dont know what pani puri is ..Pani puri is an Indian dish basically originated from Mumbai which is spicy, hot, sweet and crispy all at the same time.. Fried puri forms the crispy part... sweet chutney forms the sweet part.. lol..obviously.. thats why its called sweet chutney.. it is made from dates, tamarind etc etc..(cant give you the recipe..I just know how to eat ..cant COOK)..the dal and the so called pani forms the spicy part of it... its called pani because its made in a watery form using pudina and god knows what all...

After making all these its still not over... Its a very complicated algorithm to assemble all these stuff into one piece and then eat it... the algorithm flows something like this..
Step1: Take the puri and make a small hole (approx 2cm dia) on top of it.
Step2: Take little bit of channa (which can be replaced by either potato or moong dal) in a spoon and fill it inside the puri.
Warning: dont fill the whole puri with it.
Step3: Take one tablespoon of sweet chutney and put it inside the puri.
Step4: Take 3 to 4 tablespoons of pani and fill the remaining space in puri with it. (If you want to eat it the Indian way..just take the puri in your hands and dip the whole puri inside the container containing the pani)

Phew... wasnt that tiresome... Trust me the pani puri wallahs do more work than the waiters in a five star hotel and deserve more tips for their service..

Now unlike every other dish in this world the problem doesnt get over with the cooking part.. eating it needs more skill than cooking... trust me eating a pani puri is tougher than eating any dish in this world with a fork and a knife.. After you assemble the pani puri using the above mentioned algorithm.. just dont think about anything and stuff the puri inside your mouth (and dont look into the mirror after you stuff your face). and remember to be quick.. Coz the pani will be dripping out of the puri and its a long journey from the plate to your mouth.. so see to it that there atleast some pani left in it.. and after you stuff it into your mouth the pani will be dripping out from your mouth.. so be ready with a napkin..(Dont ever think of biting the puri into half and eating decently... those things never work with pani puri).

Well....thats about it... those who havent tried out the pani puri thing yet...please go out and have one... No one can afford to miss this..
